Paris, Friday

Last night was a rough night for Sharon - she just could not get to sleep. Jet lag? We were both up until 1:00 A.M. Sharon worked on work e-mails etc. and I wrote on the blog. We don't know why we were up so late, we just were not sleepy. But then I was able to doze off and Sharon tossed and turned until around 4:00 A.M. Once in bed I worried about the weather and what we would do if it rained on Friday and I worried about our trip to Orley on Friday, which method should we use without having tomschlep too far. But then I slept.

Friday morning was sunny so there were no rain issues. At the front desk I arranged for a shuttle to Orly for only€36 for the two of us, Just a little more than train and bus options. I was happy.

We stolled towrd the Pompidou and stopped at a cafe for breakfast. Cafe creme and a pan chocolat and a croissant. The waiter went to the patisserie next store for the pastries and they were great. After more wanderi g we got to the Pompidou in time for the need for another toilette stop, which meant we had to visit another cafe. This time I had a cafe and Sharon had tea. Oh darn, life is hard here. We were in this cafe once before with Sheena. From the front there is a wonderful view of the Centre Pompidou. Oh, they have nice toilettes.

More wandering took us past Les Halles which is undergoing massive rennovations lasting from 2012 though 2014. Quite an untertaking. We went to E. Dehillern, Sharon's favorite Paris store, then up the street past other cooking stores which led us to lunch at Pere & Fils where we have been before. What do we have? Salade chevre chaud and rose. (how do you enter accents in Blogsy when typing on an IPad?)

Right after lunch and right next door is Librairie Gormand a wonderful cooking oriented book store. I bout a children's cook book. Sharon was not tempted this trip except to postcards.

We headed towrd the Seine, passing behind the Louvre and then along the river until I felt a blister coming on so we hopped on the 69 bus and headed back to the Bastille where we stopped for a kir and a pastis. Nap time!

We found a couple of restaurants to try and then walked to Vins des Pyrenees which it turns ourpt does not open until 8:00 P.M. so we decided to have another apertif and wandered into Le Temps de Cerises. We ended up staying for dinner and had a wonderful time and a wonderful meal. Pouses d'epinard parmesan et jamon serrano, Onglet de veau pommes sautees for Sharon and saumon tartar et avocat and then St. Jacques risotto for me. Washed down with a nice burgandy. The killer dish here is the fromage. St. Marcellin cheese topped with. finely chopped shallots and chives, drizzled with olive oil, served with a petite salad and cherry compote and a bagette. Wow what a finish to a meal and a day in Paris.
