Limoges to Carcassonne

Rain, rain, rain. But look at the sky in the above photo. I snapped it just minutes ago from the little deck outside our hotel in Carcassonne. I hope we have left the rain and the chilly weather behind us.

The high point of our drive today was at a toll booth, unmanned, and we needed €12.50 to pass. We pooled all of our coins and only had €11.40, oops. But then I saw the bill receiver - billets! We had €50 notes, and we got change in coins! €37.50 in coins. We are set for change for a while.

Our trusty GPS, Madeline, got us from our hotel in Limoges to our hotel in Carcassonne without a problem. So far on this trip she has only tried to turn us the wrong way on a one way street once. I think she knows France better than Italy, though we had an issue in Spain last year trying to find our hotel in Hondarribia.

We checked into the hotel and then walked up to the old cite. By 4:00 were were sitting in the sun with kirs in hand. Now we are at the hotel vegging and deciding on where to go for dinner. For more information on Carcassonne visit here.

It turns out that Sunday evenings are not the time to plan a dinner out in Carcassonne. We did find a place that was open and looked decent. Turns out we had a very satisfying dinner of salad and then cassoulet accompanied by some very young but very drinkable wine. We were happy. Tres bon and tres bien! Bon nuit y'all.
