Closer And Closer

Tuesday is moving day and I still am feeling I am not ready because there are so many little things to deal with, to pack, to toss, to donate. I seem to constantly find something more. I consider the attic done, the back bedroom done, the front room done, the living room done, but I still have things in the basement, the front and middle bedroom, a TV in the back room, and four fish in the pond!

The move estimator said we would need four wardrobe boxes. I am up to six. We have far more small boxes than anyone could have imagined. For example I packed all of the books from the back room, expecting perhaps to get them all in 8 to 10 boxes. Double that.

We have gotten rid of all but four goldfish - these four are fast. The loveseat is gone, Kath's bed is gone, the recliner is gone. The gas grill is gone and the charcoal and Weber smoker are spoken for. On Saturday 1-800 Junk comes for a lot of stuff collected in the garage - and I am adding to it.

On Monday the movers come to pack the kitchen and dining room. I am so glad we are paying them to do this part. I am tired of packing!

Yesterday Kristie, acting as our "Attorney in Fact" signed all of the papers for the closing on our house in Redmond. We are no longer slum lords and a check should show up today. Looks like we doubled our money on that house - but now we will pay Oregon abd Federal taxes on the gain.

So Much Going On!

I still feel I have things in hand but there is much going on - on three fronts; Glen Ellyn, Redmond, and Longmont. In Glen Ellyn the buyers is asking for things not in the contract, probably not a biggie but something to deal with. Paperwork for Redmond - Oregon Income Tax Withholding on the sale and some VA stuff. The appraisal is done on the Redmond house and is good. Going to the underwriter next. In Longmont the builder is refinishing the wood floors.

In Glen Ellyn packing continues and I am feeling good. Today I packed a wardrobe box with my keyboard, a quilt and our winter coats. I filled and sealed one large box and two mediums and one small with wall art and photos, books, knick knacks, and assorted other items. I filled a large flat art box with two large format pieces from the living room. Three large pieces to go. I am out of large packing boxes and feel I might need a few more. Today I took two goldfish to Melody for her pond. I wanted to take her three of four but the fish did not cooperate with me. They all went deep as soon as I started dipping. I might need a bigger, longer net.

I'm tired.

Moving Blues

As I pack I have the feeling that there is more and more to pack. I know I am making progress, but there are days when I can't see it. Today I started on the attic. There did not seem to be that much up there, but I filled one almost empty plastic bin, plus two book boxes, the toy chest, and another medium box, plus brought photo items to the basement to pack and a couple of items for Goodwill. It appears to be all done, but...

I Packed more than one box of books from the cubby on the stairwell, and a full box of CDs and another with CDs and other items, plus a whole book box from our big built in. But, when I look, there seems to be as much there as when I started.

Yesterday I was in the garage and basement. I moved wood scraps from the basement and garage onto saw hourse. I packed two medium boxes with garage things and made another pile for Goodwill, I gave Sharon's bike to Luciano today and I swear the garage looks as full as it was before.

I filled two boxes of books for the Treasure Chest and have two boxes of crystal for them, but it hardly makes a dent!

The radon detector people came today. They say I have to keep all windows closed for two days! Sheesh! And, the have to put a detector in the front room because it is on a slab, the back room because it is on a crawl space, the middle bedroom because the bump out is over a crawl space and did I say I have to keep all the windows closed? What a pain. But we have to have radon testing done for all house sales - and guess who pays for it? We do! Bullshit. I suppose since it is in the 50s and will be raining tomorrow I can deal with it. I do find it hard to sleep with windows closed.

Did I Mention the Redmond House Sold?

The Redmond house went on the market a couple of weeks ago and we had a full price offer the next morning. Inspections have been done and repairs are happening and everything seems to be moving along. For those of you who didn't know we have a rental house in Redmond we did not want to deal with any more.

June 1 closing.

Now to get the Glen Ellyn house sold!!!!

And the movers show up here on May 31 and will arrive in Longmont sometime between the 2nd and the 7th.  We should arrive in Longmont on the 2nd. Count down!

Oops

Yesterday, a day after telling Kathy I needed a new case for my iPad because the tabs were broken and the iPad was slipping out, I was in the back yeard with the iPad, leaned over, and the iPad slipped out of the case. No problem, this has happened before. I picked it up, turned it over and brushed the dust off, except it wasn't dust, it was a badly cracked screen. Oops.

Well, I did tell Kathy I wanted a new case - and a new iPad.

I took it into a repair shop in Glen Ellyn this morning. For a total of $153 they will replace the screen and digitizer. We shall see how this works out, but it should at least give me time to investigate the latest iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro.

Tic Toc

Today I submitted my resignation at Binny's. I have been there since October 2009 and with Sam's before that since August 2004. Almost 12 years in that store and now I am a short timer. My last day will be May 14.

We are getting closer to the move to Colorado and it is a bit scary.
