What? Sunday Already?

Nothing from me since last Thursday? What is the world coming to? Aside from sitting in the sun and strolling, and drinking and eating and napping what have I got to say for myself? Piso hunting! Yep, we've been looking at real estate. Several days this week have been filled with looking at pisos. We have found that I require two baths and Jorge requires a terraza with a view of the water. Sharon and Katies have not voiced any particular desires. On Saturday morning we saw two outstanding properties that were quite the opposite of each other. One was a gorgeous two bedroom, almost new, beautiflly furnished, in a great location, in a great building. The other was a building - yep, the whole building. A two bedroom one bath piso on the ground floor, and on the first floor, and on the second floor. The second floor piso had a very nice terraza with a view. And then the third and fourth floor had a two level, two bedroom, one bath with a terraza with a wonderful view of the sea. The whole building is for sale for 1.000.000€ - and it seems a bargain.

Saturday after our real estate shopping we hopped on the train and went to Barelona. First we did a little shopping at Jorge's favorite stores. I got a Ferran Adrià cookbook. We headed toward Osmosis where we had 2:00 reservations. This is the third vist for the Jordans and the Solers have been here a number of more times. Lunches here are amazing and this one was no exception. We all declared the soup to be probably the best soup we have ever had.

After lunch we walked down the Ramblas. I picked up a Starbucks mug as I promised a co-worker. We stopped in a couple of music shops and I even saw and tried a ukulele that was quite pretty, but the sound was not there. I was surprised to see ukuleles for sale. We went to the contemporry art museum. And, as I have found before, contemporary art and I do not click, but at least I still am willing to try. I did score five bottles of Chovi Salsa Piquante Louisiana for Claire and Audra. It was along walk back to the train and then a long ride as we were on a local. We got back to the piso at around 9:30, had a bite to eat and then crashed. What a day.

Sitges Strolling

It seems that since Sharon has arrived I have been very bad about keeping the blog updated. Perhaps we are simply having too much fun. Despite our efforts to make Jorge and Sharon stick with the pattern that Katie and I established, they have made us walk more and in general be more active. I suppose we have to adjust.

Today and yesterday we started at Cafe Bar Roy and went from there. Lunch yesterday was at the sailing club and, as last week, it was wonderful. This is a great spot because of the location and the food and service are top notch. I had a delicious cauliflower and curry soup for a primero and then outstanding bacalao for my secundo, We had our usual rosadoto drink - but only one bottle between the four of us. What? Today at lunch everyone had tinto but me, and I had a blanco. So, this afternoon I picked up two bottles of rosado at the store and I am downing one now. No one is helping and I am halfway into it.

Today we looked at two properties. We are this year talking of retiring here. Last year we were just looking for a place to stay for a month or so a year. Sharon and I talked of selling our house, buying a place here and renting a place in Chicago. Perhaps half the year here, half in Chicago. We shall see what shakes out. We saw a place today that would be good for one couple but not two. We are considering getting a place with Katie and Jorge. Could we live together in retirement?

We walked to the port today and it was quite lovely but....without the appeal to us of old town Sitges. The are no working boats in the port of Sitges. It appears that they are all recreational. They are some very appealing restaurants there. We might try one while we are here.

A Sunny Day In Sitges

A Chilly, Cloudy Day In Sitges is Still A Day In Sitges

We woke to rain and found ourselve more sluggardly than even our normal. There is little incentive to venture out to chilly and wet, but we did eventually. The high point of the day was taking the Mon-Bus to the Aeroport Barcelona to meet Sharon. She had a difficult time getting here starting with a three hour delay getting out of Chicago. That meant she missed the 10:00AM flight from Paris to Barcelon and was finally on the 3:25 which got her to Barcelona around 5:30. We made it back to the piso around 6:45 and then went to Yamluna for cava and dinner. It is good to have her join us.

Waiting For Sharon

This morning we are waiting for Sharon. Her flight out of Chicago was delayed, first y a slightly later arrival and then by thunderstorms in Chicago. The flight did not leave until about 8:15. As I write this they have been on the ground in Paris for about 10 minutes. I'm hoping she makes the 12:35 to Barcelona! Update at 11:40 AM. Sharon is on the ground and in line at Airfrance Customer Service. She will be on the 3:25 arriving in Barcelona at 5:05. I'll take the Mon-Bus there to meet her and then we will be back at the piso by about 6:30. A long day for Sharon but then she can relax!

Yesterday was cloudy all day with only a few glimpses of sun. Perhaps because of the weather it was somewhat of a down day for us. Jorge was the busy one painting cabinets. As usual we started at Café Bar Roy. Katie and I did a trash, recycling, and grocery run and then we did little but read and listen to the washing machine running until lunch time. We had a chilly but enjoyable lucnh at Restaurant Amore along with our usual rosado del la casa. Then nap time until it was shopping time again! Today was jamon day - and we picked out our annual jamon. So, all in all, not much to report for this day in Sitges As Katie said we are all very good slugs.
